TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®’s purpose is to move people forward, and not only does this include our customers, but our own team members as well.

Each year, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK managers in the franchise system participate in the Mary Ellen’s Moving People Forward® Scholarship program, which is designed for franchise managers to complete educational courses, build out business plans, and present a vision for why they should be the next TWO MEN AND A TRUCK franchisee.

Year after year, the program has supported our mission of moving our team members forward and continuing the strong trend of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK franchisees who started off their careers by working their way up through a franchise.

Recently, we announced two winners of the 2023 award: TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Sacramento, Cali., Store Manager Tanya Nickel and TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Boise, Idaho Move Manager Lucas Keefe, who learned they were selected with surprise phone calls by company President Randy Shacka.

“Today is a special day for the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK brand,” Shacka said. “We have the honor to reach out and congratulate our 2023 Mary Ellen’s Moving People Forward Scholarship winners. For the first time in our history, we have two winners who have surpassed the milestones needed to win the scholarship.”

Both Nickel and Keefe’s team members were there at their respective locations to surprise them after they learned the good news, and a celebration ensued to recognize this special moment for each. Nickel will open her franchise in Berkley, California, and Keefe will open his new location in Pocatello, Idaho.

I chose to enroll in the Managers Moving Forward Program after seeing a presentation at Annual Meeting. I saw some of the focus areas were weaknesses of mine, and I figured it would be beneficial to address those. The experience has been awesome, and all of the content has led to processes I can implement at my franchise to make it better. If you aren’t growing, you’re dying, and I’d prefer the former over the latter!

The thing that attracted me most to the job was just the team environment, I’ve grown up playing sports my whole life, so when I got there and met everyone, I saw the way they treated the guys, how all the guys were team-based like family, and that was just something that really attracted me and kept me here.
